India's Mission to Moon

MGR (former Chief Minister or Tamil Nadu) in one of his movies enacted a short play which says:
On hearing America's successful landing of a Manned vehicle to Moon, India too immediately planned to launch a mission to Moon and fixed up a date for launch. On the launch date only a priest found out that it was NEW MOON day and the mission was postponed indefinitely.

I hope this time the government will take good care of this issue :)

A Lawyer in action

Lawyer: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
Doctor: No.
Lawyer: Did you check for blood pressure?
Doctor: No.
Lawyer: Did you check for breathing?
Doctor: No.
Lawyer: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
Doctor: No.
Lawyer: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
Doctor: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
Lawyer: But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?
Doctor: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.

Stunned..

Me and my fiancee were meeting for the first time for a candle-lit dinner. We had a good chit chat and in between I told her that I never had a girl friend in my life, not even a friend who is a girl. She was very fast to respond "So is my case. All my friends are boys". I was stunned and in the distance, heard the door bell ringing. Darn.. That was one hell of a dream last night when my friend rang the door bell.

Thanks giving day at my home

It's not the american holiday I am mentioning. Itz the pongal festival at my home in Chennai. Below is the kolam(a form of rangoli) put by my sister-in-law in front of our home on that day which won the first prize among some 1000 others in our locality.

Water, an elixir or nuisance?

"Water is a serious nuisance," Benner says: because of its reactivity, "the human genome survives only because it is constantly being repaired."

...But does life depend on water? Or could it be that Earth life has evolved to suit its watery home? Anything we might recognize as life probably needs a liquid solvent to transport molecules and bring them together. But who says the solvent must be water?...

The article is about solvents for biological molecules. Titan, Saturn's moon, is the place of study.
